This standard was found to be out of compliance when caregivers failed to act quickly and tend to a barefoot child on a hot surface on the outdoor playground during a mid to high 90-degree afternoon, resulting in the child sustaining 2nd degree burns on their foot after standing on the very hot surface for 27 seconds. The operation staff failed to provide sufficient information to the parent about the seriousness of the injury during the contact with the parent.
